Lancashire (The Day of Resurrection). This arrangement was written for St. John's Lutheran Church for their Easter celebration in 2009. This 2009 recording is for 7 brass pieces (3Tpt, Horn, 2Tbn, Tuba) Timpani and organ. The 2010 score shown here was rewritten for 6 brass (2Tpt, Horn, 2Tbn, Tuba) and the 2011 version was rewritten for 5 brass pieces (3Tpt, 2Tbn). The piece was originally designed to create two brass choirs tossing a theme back and forth, creating aural interest.
WORGAN (Jesus Christ is Ris'n Today) is a staple Easter hymn. This arrangement with festival introduction extended the hymn in order to support the extended processional at the St. John's Easter celebration in 2006. It was originally written for brass quintet (3Tpt, 2Tbn) and organ. A later arrangement for brass septet (3Tpt, Hn, 2Tbn, Tuba) which is the recording here was done in 2009. The three opening verses with organ only followed by a brass interlude give the brass a breather after the athletic introductino and before the final verse. The interlude also provides a structure for modulation into B major for the final verse.
